JBL 150L Speakers

WOW!  Words are hard for me to come by to describe the absolutely realistic sound that comes out of these speakers.  I searched high and low literally to find a set of speakers that fit my definition of "is it live or is it Memorex?" If you're in my age bracket, you probably remember that slogan from the 70's.  I was totally blown away by the quality of sound that these units put out.

I hooked them up to a Sansui BA-F1 power amplifier (known for it's clarity of amplification 0Hz - 600KHz) and a Sansui pre-amp.  I never had heard anything like it before.  You can tell by my web site that I have a range of great quality speakers so I'm not blowing smoke here.  For what I have to offer for sale - these are #1 in sound quality followed by the Sansui SP-X9000 and the Bose 901 Series 3.

You will not be disappointed in the sonic quality of these speakers.

  15 day warranty.

These speakers have oiled American black walnut on precision cut dense compressed wood. There are a few chips in the veneer and some wear on the top surfaces.  Using a scratch-hider oil makes most of this go away.  If I was going to keep them, I might refinish the wood.  It's not horrible but you may want to consider it.

Speaker cones and surrounds are in perfect condition.  One mid-range dust cover is dinged and one dome tweeter grill is dinged.  No effect on sound.

Grills have fabric in great shape - no holes. The JBL badges are missing. The grill frames are solid, there is some wear on the holes that fit on the pegs that hold the grill on but nothing broken.

(Click here for the owners manual in PDF form).

I don't presume to say these are the best speakers ever - everyone has different tastes and experiences.  I used to be a hearing technician in the AF Reserve in the early 80's so I saw many graphs of how people heard sound.  (I have perfect 20Hz - 20KHz hearing believe it or not according to the last test I had a few years ago). Some say Tannoy, Wilson and other brands are the best.  They sure have the prices to match, and they might be the best.  But in my experience, these are the best I have heard in a stereo environment.

I keep web pages of sold equipment up for others to view specifications.  I also may get another set of these for sale sometime in the future so this is a good bookmark.
