Kenwood's KR-9600 Flagship receiver from the 70's

The KR-9600 was the "flagship" of the Kenwood line. These units are becoming very rare, especially in this fine condition. The 9600 was manufactured from 1977-1981. Original list price was between $775 and $800 (about $2400 in today's money).

This massive unit (56 lbs) outputs a maximum of 160W per channel into a 4-16 ohm load. It will support up to 3 sets of speakers (A, B, A+B, C) via the rear mounted spring-loaded speaker connections.

On the rear are inputs for 2 phonographs, 2 tape decks, an auxiliary input,  pre-out/main-in connections, and 3 accessory AC outlets (1 switched, 2 unswitched). On the front panel are Hi/Lo filter buttons; -20db attenuation button; 3W/200W button for dual analog watt-meters; deviation/signal strength button; FM 25mms de-emphasis button; FM muting button; microphone input with variable level control; mono/stereo/reverse selector; tone defeat; and bass, mid, and treble adjustments.

I really have enjoyed having these receivers around.  Fantastic industrial artistic design, lotsa chrome, buttons, meters and other eye candy.  A really neat unit to show off to your friends, and can faithfully reproduce many types of music up to the point of being a "lease-breaker."

I have three one of these in stock.  15 day warranty.
