Pioneer SA 9500

Fantastic and beautiful! A quality integrated amplifier with the optional walnut wood enclosure.  This baby is in excellent condition - clean enough to eat off of if that's your thing.  Sounds wonderful! Units have been gone through, cleaned, adjusted and lubricated.

Pioneer introduced the "business class" SA 9500 integrated amplifier in 1975.  This amp was designed for serious audio applications in studios, as well as indoor and outdoor theater applications. (See my Spec 1 remarks in next column). They were even used in concert settings.  A look at my photos tells why.  The SA 9500 was designed for heavy duty use with emphasis on ease of connections for other equipment and speakers.  Conservatively rated at 80 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms (100 wpc 4 ohms) with no more than 0.1% THD.  It has no problem driving any kind of speakers at very loud volumes.  These are tanks.  Nice clean design and typical over-built Japanese craftsmanship!  Made around 1975 - should still be running in 2035.

This amplifier has been a very good seller for me and it's been hard to keep it in stock.  The standard SA 9500 sells for $495 and the one with the wood enclosure sells for $595 - $650.

I have very nice SA 9500 with the original shipping box.  It has the wood enclosure.  The wood enclosure has a few small dings on the corners but looks pretty nice.  Faceplate is clean.  Unit sounds great!  Looks similar to the one I have pictured here.  15 day warranty.  Includes a copy of the manual.

Price $595 with wood enclosure

Shipping $45

Temporarily SOLD OUT 4-2-8. I will get some more in.

Spec 1 Replacement?

Don't want the expense and size requirements of a Pioneer Spec 1 pre-amp and Spec 2 power amp?  This SA 9500 has virtually all of the same controls and specifications that the Spec 1 pre-amp has.  No wonder as it was designed at the same time and uses the same quality components as the Spec 1.  I got out the schematics and specifications and they're almost identical.  Only real difference is in the tone control system.  The Spec 1 gives you a bit more adjustment than the SA 9500. Since you can use the pre-amp and power amp separately on the SA 9500, you can use the SA 9500 as a table top Spec 1 if desired.
