Pioneer SX-1050

The SX-1050 was one step below the top Pioneer receiver (SX-1250) in 1976 and 1977. This unit shown here is a one owner trade in and is in exceptional condition for its age.  Just a few light scratches. Original list price was $700 (about $2800 in today's money).

This is a pretty hefty unit and shows off typical Pioneer heavy duty engineering. Has a huge toroidal transformer for low magnetic noise coupling.  Two large filter capacitors for supplying power when you demand it!  0.1% Total Harmonic Distortion. Walnut veneers and solid walnut trim.  This is a beautiful receiver. Very hard to find them in this excellent condition!  Usually there's lots of scuffs on the top from stacking and dinged corners.  Not this one!

Of course I got to enjoy it's very solid sound from deep lows to great highs.  I hooked this up to a pair of Pioneer CS 903's.  WOW!  Used a piece of wire for the FM antenna and it pulled the stations right in.

I toyed around with the idea of moving this one into my house but decided it was in too fine of condition and needed to find a permanent home.
