Sony SS-860 SOLD!

I bought these on a whim and was amazed at the clarity of sound from these vintage speakers. I hooked them up to a Sansui AU-11000 110 wpc integrated amplifier.  With the 17 inch woofer (16.3 inches actual) the bass gets down to 20 Hz which is fairly rare except in a very expensive speaker system. The two 5 inch middies take care of business well also. 

Where this speaker system shines to me is in the clarity of the large horn tweeter and two horn super tweeters.  Specs say up to 22 KHz and I believe it.  Now we know that ordinary hearing stops at 20 KHz but somehow those higher freqs can be missed if they're not there.  They are definitely here on these speakers!

Grills have original fabric in great shape - no holes. The frames are solid, no broken pegs, and the grills are badged correctly.  There is a top and bottom grill for each speaker.

There is a small chip in the right-rear bottom on one speaker.  Corners are nice and tight, no gouges in the wood-like veneer.

Top with tweeters comes off for shipping.  The two speakers will ship in three boxes; the two lower units in two boxes and the two upper units in one box.

These lovelies were made in 1979 and were well taken care of.

Great sensitivity of 99db too!  I had a dinky little Pioneer amp with 10 wpc hooked up when I first got these.  While standing 6 feet away, I could not turn up the amp all the way without hurting my eardrums!

You won't find any better unless you find some new in the box.
